Gratitude fund raised nearly $8.7 million in three months

The fund was raised by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front as part of activities to mark the 70th Vietnam Wounded Soldiers’ and Martyrs’ Day .

As per the Committee, residents and businesses have all responded to the call for the fund as donations have come pouring in from across the country. Subsequently, the gratitude fund received the amount of VND197 billion in 446 cities and provinces.

Additionally, local administrations encouraged social contributions to help social welfare brackets and revolutionary contributors. Local governments built and repaired 18,958 gratitude houses worth over VND736 billion and presented 207,982 gifts worth VND122 billion to these special families.

Moreover, the fund organizer decided to spend VND2.8 billion from the state budget for building 70 new houses for revolutionary families in 14 provinces. Organizations and unions as well as departments had organized various activities to show gratitude to families of revolutionary contributors and martyrs, wounded soldiers.

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Tran Thanh Man expressed his admiration and proud of wounded soldiers who overcome diseases to strive in learning, production and labor to contribute to the nation’s growth and families’ richness.

The Committee proposed the fund organizer to allocate the sum to provide timely assistance to buy new wheelchairs for wounded soldiers and help their children to have employment as well as build more charity houses for families of martyrs, veterans, volunteers in the wartime, Agent Orange victims and social welfare beneficiaries.

Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung stressed that local government must perform gratitude movement to families of wounded soldiers and martyrs and revolutionary contributors. Local administrations have to raise living condition of these special families.

Basically, most wounded soldiers in medical centers have wheelchairs and in the next time, the Fatherland Front will help them more.
