PM Phuc asked ministries, sectors and localities to thoroughly grasp the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws, intensify educational campaigns to raise public awareness, and make the implementation of preferential policies for revolution contributors a duty and a frequent and long-term mission of the whole political system and the entire society. He expressed his hope that the war invalids, wounded soldiers, families of war martyrs, and revolution contributors will continue promoting the patriotic tradition and contribute more to the national building cause. According to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), Vietnam has more than 9 million revolution contributors, including 1.2 million fallen soldiers, 127,000 Heroic Mothers, and 800,000 war invalids. Over the past 5 years, over 75,000 sets of remains of fallen soldiers have been found and reburied. Of the total, 16,600 sets of remains were repatriated from Laos and 15,100 sets brought back from Cambodia. The Party and State’s preferential policies have benefited 95.75 percent of the revolution contributors. NDO/VNA - National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan visited and presented gifts to policy beneficiary families in Ho Chi Minh City’s outlying district of Cu Chi on July 26 on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers Day. On behalf of Party and State leaders, the NA Chairwoman expressed profound gratitude to wounded soldiers, war martyrs and revolutionary contributors for their sacrifice and service during the cause of national liberation, construction and defence. In the afternoon of the same day, Chairwoman Ngan together with leaders of the Party, State and Ho Chi Minh City laid wreaths and offered incense at the Fallen Soldiers’ Cemetery in Cu Chi district and Ben Duoc Memorial Temple. At the temple, the top legislator visited an exhibition themed “Portraits of Ho Chi Minh City’s Heroic Vietnamese Mothers”. Ho Chi Minh City is now home to 5,184 heroic Vietnamese mothers, of whom 4,905 have passed away. NDO – A conference was held in Hanoi on July 26 to honour people who contributed great service to the nation. The conference, attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, honoured 700 outstanding war veterans, heroic Vietnamese mothers, Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, ex-youth volunteers, and the relatives of martyrs and revolutionary contributors, representing over 9 million national contributors across the country. The event was jointly organised by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), Defence Ministry, Ministry of Public Security, Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper and the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee to mark the 70th anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers Day (July 27, 1947-2017). According to a report by the MoLISA, over 9 million national contributors have been identified, with more than 1.2 million fallen soldiers, 127,000 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and over 800,000 wounded soldiers. Over the past five year, the relevant agencies, units and organisations have collected 75,000 sets of the remains of Vietnamese martyrs, of which 16,600 were found in Laos and 15,000 in Cambodia. The implementation of policies, towards people who contributed meritorious services to the revolution of all levels and branches, basically met the set target with 95.75% of beneficiaries having enjoyed the preferential policies of the Party and State. Veterans offer incense to heroic martyrs (Photo: VNA)   Hanoi (VNA) – An exhibition was opened in Hanoi on July 25 to showcase documents, exhibits and photos on activities to show gratitude to war invalids, martyrs and national contributors on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27). Visitors to the event will have chance to learn about the efforts made by late President Ho Chi Minh, Party, State leaders and the community to care for war invalids, martyrs’ families and revolutionary contributors, as well as major achievements in the work. Particularly, images of six Vietnamese Heroic Mothers are exhibited, along with original letters and writings by soldiers in the “Vietnam’s War Letters” collection. The event also introduces products of veterans and businesses owned by wounded veterans who have overcome all difficulties to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development. A number of art and cultural activities will also be held within the framework of the event. The President made the remark in a piece of writing on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs' Day (July 27), in which he praised the great contributions of revolutionary contributors and highlighted the tradition of taking care of those who have made significant contributions to the nation. Policies, regulations and communications campaigns on supporting national revolutionary contributors, both in terms of health care and education, have been implemented effectively throughout the localities, he said. Cemeteries and monuments dedicated to martyrs nationwide have been upgraded and embellished, while the search for, collection and identification of the remains of martyrs has been carried out with the greatest efforts, he added. Apart from presenting gifts to wounded and sick soldiers and their relatives, many organisations and individuals have actively joined in with movements to help improve the spiritual and material lives of revolutionary contributors. As per the Committee, residents and businesses have all responded to the call for the fund as donations have come pouring in from across the country. Subsequently, the gratitude fund received the amount of VND197 billion in 446 cities and provinces. Additionally, local administrations encouraged social contributions to help social welfare brackets and revolutionary contributors. Local governments built and repaired 18,958 gratitude houses worth over VND736 billion and presented 207,982 gifts worth VND122 billion to these special families. Moreover, the fund organizer decided to spend VND2.8 billion from the state budget for building 70 new houses for revolutionary families in 14 provinces. Organizations and unions as well as departments had organized various activities to show gratitude to families of revolutionary contributors and martyrs, wounded soldiers.
