Vietnam defeat hosts Thailand in penalty shootout to win AFF U-15 title

HCM City, July 22 (VNA) – Vietnamese tennis player Nguyen Van Phuong won the final match in the men’s singles at the U18 Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Circuit – BECAMEX Cup 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City on July 22.  Phuong lost the first set in his match against Chinese player Yuan Zihao, but won the next two sets to obtain the championship.  Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles final, Vietnamese pair of Van Phuong and Minh Thinh was defeated 6-7 and 2-6 by Chinese rivals Yuan Zihao and Zeng Zicheng.  No 1 seed Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty from India beat No 2 seed Che Yujiao from China (6-4, 6-2) to take the championship in the women’s single category.  Meanwhile, Chinese duo Li Zongyi and Wang Jungyi became the champions in the women’s doubles after trouncing Che Yujiao and Gou Chunxi also from China (7-6, 6-4).  Co-organised by the HCM City Tennis Federation and the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, the event draws more than 100 players from 20 countries and territories, including China, Australia, India, Thailand, the Philippines, France and the US. People pay pilgrimage to Dong pagada on top of Yen Tu mountain The area contains many historical and cultural relic sites related to national construction and defense. Bac Giang province has a master plan to preserve the relic sites and natural scenic spots of west Yen Tu. The Buddhist land of West Yen Tu covers the Vinh Nghiem temple and 130 relic sites. 26 of them have been officially designated provincial or national relic sites, including the ancient Suoi Mo temple, But pass, and the West Yen Tu Buddhist center. The Vinh Nghiem pagoda is considered the first Buddhist site in northern Vietnam. Police in Thailand have found a Vietnamese company organising an illegal tour to the country and detained the tour guide and the leader of the tour. EPAC Education Application JC Company in the Mekong city of Can Tho which specialises in holding educational tours to Thailand took a group of 17 people to Thailand on June 15-19. The package fees for each person are VND6.5 million (USD295.4). However, when arriving in Thailand, the group had to find their accommodation and transport services by themselves, instead of being arranged by the company as agreed before. Meanwhile, the tour guide couldn’t speak English, so some members of the group had to help him. On June 18, Thai police detained the tour guide Ngo Thanh Den and the leader of the tour Duong Hoai Han, claiming the tour was not officially recognised. As a result, the tourists were left in Thailand and they had to cover fees for all services during the time in the country until local police helped them to come back Vietnam. Speaking with reporters, Tran Xuan Vinh, Chairman of the company, said that their Thai partners cancelled contracts with the company so they had failed to arrange the service for the tourists. After that, Den and Han decided to hire vehicles and other services for the tour but were stopped by Thai authorities. Authorities of the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong have licensed 10 companies to organise adventure tours. Zipline is among the licensed adventure tours in Lam Dong Province. Eleven firms had asked for permission from the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism for being licensed.   They meet all requirements for adventures tours such as equipment, rescue work and other factors to ensure safety for travellers and well as tour guides. Tuyen Lam Lake, Datanla Waterfall, Dasar Waterfall and Thung Lung Vang tourist site, Madagui area and Da Don River will be the focus of adventure tourism activities. The companies are allowed to organising the activities such as trekking, ziplines, and canoeing to cross a waterfall. The province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has also held training courses on adventure tours for 60 tour guides from the 10 licensed companies. Five people including four foreign tourists and a Vietnamese tour guide have died while participating in adventure tours in Da Lat. A Polish male traveller and a Vietnamese tour guide were found dead in the province’s Da Lat City in February after an accident. NDO – A variety of photos, artifacts and documents highlighting the care for wounded and fallen soldiers and revolutionary contributors will be showcased at an exhibition from July 25-27 at the Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts (VECCA) in Hanoi. The exhibition, which will be divided into four parts, is a meaningful political and social event to mark the 70th anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers (July 27, 1947 – 2017). The first part will feature photos, artifacts and documents on the attention paid by Party and State leaders, particularly President Ho Chi Minh, to caring for wounded and fallen soldiers. The Party’s guidelines and State’s policies and decrees on wounded and fallen soldiers and revolutionary contributors will also be displayed at the exhibition. In the second area, photos, figures and quotations will highlight the achievements in care for wounded soldiers, heroic martyrs and revolutionary contributors over the past 70 years, including building and effectively implementing policies and movements, as well as searching for, collecting and repatriating a large number of martyrs' remains, and building and restoring martyr’s cemeteries and memorial monuments around the country. With great efforts, Cyclist Huynh Thanh Tung of Military Region 7 team successfully reached the finishing line first after 1 hour 15 minutes 44 seconds, wining the final stage. He was followed by Nguyen Minh Luan from Premium Cycling Vinh Long team and Loic Desriac from Bike Life Dong Nai team. After the final race, the organizing panel held a ceremony to conclude the over-700km-long race from Hanoi to Quang Tri ancient citadel - the symbol of the indomitable spirit and courage of Quang Tri people in particular and the Vietnamese people in general.
