Whole nation commemorates the fallen and national contributors

NDO – On July 27, a delegation formed of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) leaders laid a floral wreath and offered incense to commemorate fallen soldiers at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs in Bac Son street, Hanoi. The delegation included Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; former Party General Secretaries Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh; former President Tran Duc Luong; Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; former NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung; President of the VFF Central Committee; among others. They expressed their gratitude to the wounded and fallen soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for national liberation, independence, freedom and the happiness of the people. Afterwards, the leaders paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum to commemorate his merits to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. NDO – Generations of Vietnamese will never forget the service of wounded soldiers and martyrs who have made huge contributions to the fatherland and the flame of patriotism has been handed down from ancestors to younger generations to burn steadily and brightly. These messages were delivered on a live television programme which was held synchronously, on July 27 in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Nguyen province and Quang Tri province to mark the 70th anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers Day (July 27, 1947-2017). The event in Hanoi was attended by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; Politburo member and Head of Party Central Committee’s (PCC) Commission for Communication and Education, Vo Van Thuong and Politburo member and Hanoi municipal Party Committee, Hoang Trung Hai, plus other Party, State and Government high-ranking officials. Mr. Tran Thanh Man presenting a gift to a national contributor in Ha Nam province The proceeds were revealed at a meeting to review the implementation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee’s movement on July 24 in Hanoi. According to the committee, the movement has attracted active participation of provinces, cities, and organizations with many impressive initiatives and programs for national contributors. During the three-month long movement, 46 provinces and cities built or repaired nearly 19,000 gratitude houses, and presented about 208,000 gifts to national contributors. Most wounded and sick soldiers in convalescent centers have received wheelchairs. Addressing the meeting, Tran Thanh Man, member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC), said that the movement’s outcomes showed the sentiment and responsibility of younger generations to older ones  who wholeheartedly devoted to the national independence. VietNamNet Bridge – Participants at a conference about developing transport infrastructure in the northwest region on Thursday in Ha Noi agreed that transport infrastructure construction has not met demand and thus has not yet created strong foundations for economic and social development. Many projects are lagging in terms of progress, causing difficulties for localities. Deputy head of the Steering Committee for the Northwestern Region Nguyen Canh Viet said due to its geographical characteristics, the northwest region often experienced heavy rains and landslides. Thus it is often difficult to conduct construction work and maintain transport infrastructure. At the event (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The State-run Vietnam News Agency (VNA) held a ceremony in Hanoi on July 24 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Day of Invalids and Martyrs (July 27). Speaking at the event, member of the Party Central Committee and VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi said since its establishment on September 15, 1945, the VNA has always been loyal to the Party and people’s revolutionary cause. During the national liberation and construction, the agency’s correspondents and technicians were present at the most fierce battlefields to cover victories of the army and people across the country and expose crimes and plots by enemies. More than 260 VNA journalists and martyrs lost their lives to the war, which was a great loss but also a pride of the VNA - the first press agency awarded the titles of the hero of the people’s armed forces and the labour hero during the renewal period. NDO – An arts programme, entitled ‘The Sacred World of Dong Loc’, was held at the Dong Loc T-junction historical relic site in the central province of Ha Tinh on July 23 to mark the 70th anniversary of the Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day (July 27, 1947-2017). The programme, which was co-organised by Nhan Dan (The People’s) Newspaper, Ha Tinh province and Vietnam Television, was attended by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
