The inspection on the capital efficiency of construction investments managed by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) is now underway by the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Transport (MoT). The time and duration of the inspection will be in accordance with Vietnam's Law on Inspection, starting from the date of the inspection decision, August 9. Tan Son Nhat airport (Source: VNA) Hano​i (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has agreed to hire foreign consultants to consider the expansion of the Tan Son Nhat international airport in Ho Chi Minh City without limitation in land use planning. The move is in line with Article 26 of the Law on Bidding on hiring international consultants in special cases. Foreign consultants will also be hired to assess the use of land for the aviation sector and build plans for the airport expansion along with adjusting the airport’s master plan as well as related development plans in the area to both the north and the south. The Ministry of Transport will chair over the selection of competent, prestigious and experienced foreign consultants according to the country’s legal regulations. VietNamNet Bridge – The Deputy Minister of Defence has urged all military units to comply with the Central Military Commission’s regulations on management and use of military land near HCM City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport. The Ministry of Defence has promised to turn over military-owned land near HCM City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport, if required by the government. A golf course, which opened in 2015, is located on the land.  Speaking at a conference yesterday in the city, Lt. Col Tran Don said that military units would not be allowed to sign new leases of the land until 2020. “This is the main goal of the Central Military Commission,” he said at the conference, held to discuss land use around the airport. To ease traffic congestion near the airport, Don has asked military units and local authorities to remove three gas stations and 50 kiosks along Truong Chinh Street in Tan Binh District within a month. He said the Ministry of Defence would hand over the cleared land to Tan Binh District authorities, and would work with the city government to repair airport fences. Land owned by the military in the city totals more than 1,000 hectares, according to the Ministry of Defence. “However, these land areas have not been planned well and are under management of many units,” Don said. Airports across the country served 55.41 million passengers in the period from January to July this year. — VNA/VNS Photo Airports across the country served 55.41 million passengers in the period from January to July this year, reported the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam. The number of passengers passing through terminals nationwide in July alone was 9.11 million, a year-on-year increase of 12.2 per cent. Of which, international arrivals were 2.34 million, up 2.1 per cent, and domestic travelers were 6.77 million, up 16.2 per cent. There are currently 63 foreign airlines from 25 countries and territories participating in the Vietnamese air transport market to operate regular international flights to Viet Nam. Foreign airlines and three Vietnamese airlines including Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Jetstar Pacific Airlines are operating 105 international flights to and from Ha Noi, HCM City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Hai Phong. In the domestic market, four Vietnamese airlines including Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific Airlines and Vietnam Air Services Company (Vasco) are operating 52 domestic routes connecting Ha Noi, Da Nang and HCM City with 18 local airports.
