Chief executive officer of the group Philippe Richart made the remark at a working session with the provincial People’s Committee in Dong Nai on Monday. Currently, Siam City Cement has invested in the Holcim factory in Nhon Trach district. In the future, the firm is consider extending the Holcim plant and building an industrial dry mortar factory and a construction material transfer station in Dong Nai province, Richart added. Richart also said that Siam City Cement was focusing on the ​​waste treatment sector. At present, the company owns advanced waste treatment technology, especially for fly ash processing. Vice chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee, Nguyen Quoc Hung, said that the province has been implementing a series of key projects, including the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway which is under construction, the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet and Dau Giay – Da Lat express routes which are in the investment stage and the Long Thanh Airport which is slated for 2019. The feasibility study report of a component project of the Long Thanh International Airport project in the southern province of Dong Nai, which is a magnet to many international investors, is likely to be submitted to the National Assembly in October 2017. The meeting to review the preparation of the Long Thanh Airport project The Ministry of Transport (MoT) chaired a meeting on August 4 to review the preparation process of the project, including land revocation, compensation, and support for resettlement of the affected local residents. According to a report by MoT's Department of Planning and Investment, in June 2017, the National Assembly approved Resolution No.38/2017/QH14 on separating the land revocation, compensation, and support for resettlement into a different component project in which the government asked Dong Nai and relevant ministries to do a feasibility study and submit it to the National Assembly for approval in October 2017. The Minister of Transport raised concerns that the biggest problem in the feasibility report is the source of money. The NA Standing Committee said that based on the obtained information and the latest updated prices from the Dong Nai People’s Committee, the total estimated cost for site clearance, including the construction of resettlement and cemetery areas, is about VND23 trillion ($1 billion). Middlemen and real estate brokers are making false offers for houses and lands around Long Thanh Airport project, Dong Nai Province, to trick buyers. Advertising boards can be seen along the Highway 51 that runs through Loc An and Binh Son communes. On Road 769, there are even "real estate cafes" where brokers gather to promote their products and consult buyers. An advertising board claims that they have land that is only 1km away from the airport project but adjacent to the Long Thanh District People's Committee's headquarters which are dozens of kilometres away from the airport. When being questioned, a seller said the land was 5km away from the airport and next to Phuoc Thai Commune People's Committee. Cat, a broker, said, "This is a good time to buy because the prices are still cheap. You can re-sell the house and land at much higher prices when the market heats up." He went on to promote a land next to the supposed airport's entrance, saying that their lands are in the 21,000 hectare area planned for the airport. Hanoi has revealed the design for its largest theater – a six-story building with six giant lotus flowers rising up from a lake. In a country where more than half of the population is online most of the day, the project has once again started a lot of chatter. A common theme seems to be people asking if the spending is necessary, or if the money should be used for schools, hospitals and roads. But this time, there’s a new debate that can be summed up in one word: “Again?” The public appears to have had enough of lotus-inspired constructions. The transport ministry has also chosen a lotus-themed design for Long Thanh Airport, a multi-billion dollar international airport in the southern province of Dong Nai that will be the largest in Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh City’s tallest skyscraper, Bitexco, also bears the image of a lotus bud. And that's just to name but a few. Members of the public say that the image is being “abused” and is getting “boring”, adding that designs that copy a real object are uncreative and dated. The winning lotus design for Long Thanh International Airport Terminal has raised concerns that it may prove too costly to implement.     Proposed Long Thanh Airport design Tran Quang Chau, chairman of Vietnam Association on Aviation Science and Technology said the lotus-shaped terminal was chosen because the colour and layout used for each part are harmonious. In addition, people can clearly see that it is designed for large-scale airport and has traditional factors. Lai Xuan Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam, said the decision was made after receiving public feedback in Hanoi, Da Nang, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City and from associations such as the Vietnam Association of Architects and the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association. 26 experts from ministries, agencies and professional associations led by Director General of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam Dinh Viet Thang also formed an advisory team to vote on the designs. 59.09% of the attendants voted for the lotus design. Despite the consensus, there are still concerns the design will mean costs will rise. Curved buildings often have more problems with installing equipment. General Director of Airports Corporation of Viet Nam (ACV) Le Manh Hung also made public a ten-year renovation project is planned for the Long Thanh airport. The international airport will increase the number of its left and right terminals to allow for 40 more check-in stalls and the domestic terminal will be extended to have additional floor of space of 3,900 square metres. In the years leading up to 2014, Tan Son Nhat airport has served serving 20 million passengers, operating up to 550 flights per day during peak hours. HCM City - The Aviation Airport Corporation of Việt Nam (ACV) has started collecting feedback from the local community in HCM City regarding the architectural plan of Long Thành International Airport's passenger terminal from January 12 to 23, 2017. "The Government had appointed the ACV to be the investor for the passenger terminal. We are establishing the feasibility research for the first phase of the Long Thành International Airport's passenger terminal," Đào Việt Dũng, deputy general director of the ACV was quoted as saying on the government website. The ACV had already organised a contest for the architectural plan of the Long Thành International Airport's passenger terminal. There were 16 international and domestic companies taking part in the contest with nine plans. The contest aimed to choose the most beautiful and feasible design that meets all required functions, as well as representing the special characteristics of the construction. The most impressive plans included images of palm branches and water coconut - familiar images of the South's culture - along with a bamboo roof - a Vietnamese symbol - for the public spaces of the Long Thành International Airport's passenger terminal. Talking with local authorities in Bien Hoa town on October 3, PM Dung said the province with its location in the southern key economic region and a large acreage, that represents one-fourth of the area of the eastern part of southern Vietnam, should make full use of these advantages to develop high-quality industries, services and agriculture. He praised the province for contributing 4 percent to the country’s GDP and standing fifth in State budget remittance. In the context of economic slowdown, the province recorded high economic growth rates and increased the proportion of industries and services, with industry making up 50 percent, services (30 percent) and agriculture (10 percent). In the first nine months of 2009, the province’s GDP reached VND23.6 trillion, posting a year-on-year increase of 8 percent. More than 85,000 labours were provided with jobs, the average income per capita reached US$1,403 per year, and the number of poor families dropped to 6.9 percent. Sharing Dong Nai’s difficulties in infrastructure, the PM said the Government will assist it in investing in infrastructure for industrial zones, and conducting major transport projects such as the Long Thanh-Dau Giay and the Long Thanh airport.
