“Vo Nguoi Ta” (Wife of Another Man), which depicts the broken heart of a man after knowing his beloved is getting married to another man, is the top trending search in Vietnam, even though it only surfaced on the Internet in late October, according to the “Year in Search 2015” report. The top ten Trending Searches are dominated by queries for songs, occupying half of the list that also includes searches for “Co Dau Tam Tuoi,” or Balika Vadhu — a 2,499-episode Indian television drama series – Hollywood blockbuster "Furious 7,” and Vietnamese movie “Chang Trai Nam Ay.” The other two trendy queries in the top ten are searches for local comedy contest “Thach Thuc Danh Hai” and How Old Net, a Microsoft age-guessing tool that became a viral sensation in late April. The “Year in Search 2015” lists the top searched trends in such categories as Global and Local News, Events, People, TV Shows, Movies, Recipes, and Definitions. The trending global news searches include the Islamic State, Paris attacks, Russia’s airstrikes in Syria, Singapore's founding father Lee Kuan Yew, who passed away in March, and the Nepal earthquake that killed more than 9,000 in April. Newspapers welcome Tet at festival By Kieu Giang in HCMC A newspaper festival to welcome New Year 2011 will be held Jan 20 and 21 from 9 a.m. at the Youth Cultural Center, 1 Pham Ngoc Thach St., HCMC’s District 1. The festival will feature 45 booths from all the national print newspapers, magazines, radio news and electronic newspapers. Well-known reporters will be there to talk to visitors and discuss the special editions for the Lunar New Year. One booth will display the cover pages of all the newspapers and have pictorial displays about 12 remarkable news events in 2010. Visitors can relax in the Tet corner with special Lunar New Year editions to read over while enjoying a free drink. Participants can also vote for their favorite newspapers in a poll run by the organizers. Students will receive free copies of their favorite papers. The National Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA) in HCMC yesterday celebrated the 35th anniversary ceremony of its establishment (June 8th, 1981- 2016). A portal supplying information on Vietnam and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has been launched in Hanoi. Vietnamplus reported Monday that the Vietnam-ASEAN portal was introduced the same day at three addresses, including,, and The portal, which has English and Vietnamese versions, provides knowledge of the formation, activities, and management structure of ASEAN, as well as the role and contribution of Vietnam to the bloc. It also allows users to search for a wide range of information, including news, events, economic development, culture, history, science, technology, politics, and security status of the ASEAN member countries. According to Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son, the establishment of the Vietnam-ASEAN portal is expected to raise public awareness of the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), slated for launch by the end of this year. VGP – A photo reportage contest titled Viet Nam – Dat Nuoc, Con Nguoi (Viet Nam – The Country and People) was launched in Ha Noi on September 6. The contest was jointly organised by the Viet Nam Artistic Photographers’ Association (VAPA) and Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, aiming to reflect the country’s politics, economy, culture and society.
