Viet Nam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) announced on Monday that it had conducted operational trials of the Distributed Multi-Nodal ATFM Operational Trail between Viet Nam and Singapore. The programme was set up to test the weekly scenario, applicable to Vietnam Airlines flights that depart from Noi Bai International Airport to Singapore's Changi Airport. Viet Nam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) announced on Monday that it had conducted operational trials of the Distributed Multi-Nodal ATFM Operational Trail between Viet Nam and Singapore.  The air traffic will be managed based on a common principle among participants. Accordingly, the VATM, Airports Corporation of Viet Nam, Changi Airport and Vietnam Airlines will focus on balancing the air traffic demand-capacity by regulating the flight arrivals at the departure airport with the issuance of calculated take-off time (CTOT). “In simpler terms, the participants will check the CTOT, so that when the flight takes off, it can land on time, and does not have to hover in the air waiting for a landing slot,” a top official from the VATM said. The delay will take place on the ground, not in the air, he said. This will interest all participants, who could focus on enhancing the capacity, flying safety, cutting the exploitation costs, decreasing carbon dioxide emissions and reducing the volume of work for both the pilots and the air traffic staff. Once the operational trial is successful, the VATM will review its efficiency. If it is found to be efficient, the corporation will declare the…... [read more]

The red-shanked douc langur (Pygathrix nemaeus) is sometimes called the “costumed ape” or the “Queen of primates” due to its amazing colors: maroon-red from its knees to ankles, white forearms, black hands and feet, a golden face with a white ruff, blue eyelids and a white tail. The International Union for Conservation of Nature lists the species as endangered and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora prohibits its international trade. President Donald Trump on Monday authorized an inquiry into China's alleged theft of intellectual property in the first direct trade measure by his administration against Beijing, but one that is unlikely to prompt near-term change. Trump broke from his 17-day vacation in New Jersey to sign the memo in the White House at a time of heightened tensions between Washington and Beijing over North Korea's nuclear ambitions. The investigation is likely to cast a shadow over relations with China, the largest U.S. trading partner, just as Trump is asking Beijing to step up pressure against Pyongyang. U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer will have a year to look into whether to launch a formal investigation of China's trade policies on intellectual property, which the White House and U.S. industry lobby groups say are harming U.S. businesses and jobs. Trump called the inquiry "a very big move." Trump administration officials have estimated that theft of intellectual property by China could be as high as $600 billion. Experts on China trade policy said the long lead time could allow Beijing to discuss some of the issues raised by Washington without being seen to cave to pressure under the threat of reprisals. Although Trump repeatedly criticized China's trade practices on the campaign trail, his administration has not taken any significant action. Despite threats to do so, it has declined to name China a currency manipulator and delayed broader national security probes into imports of foreign steel and aluminum that could indirectly affect China.…...
