Standards for Party high-ranking officials issued

This is the curtain raising event to mark the Vietnam – Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2012 and confirms the unswerving policy of Vietnam to treasure and bring bilateral relations to a new height. Bilateral relations have been continuously promoted in various fields through the exchange of reciprocal visits by the two countries’ top leaders. Worthy of note were last year’s visits to Vietnam by President Chummaly Sayasone, Prime Minister Thongsinh Thammavong, and National Assembly Chairperson Pany Yathotu, and visits to Laos by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. They have reinforced trust and bonds between the two nations. During the last meeting of the 13th NA, deputies spent 10 days electing key leaders including the National Assembly Chairperson, NA Vice Chairs, members of the NA Standing Committee, the President, and the Prime Minister, and approving the Prime Minister’s proposals on appointing 3 Deputy Prime Ministers and 18 Ministers to the cabinet. For the first time the National Assembly Chairperson, the President, the Prime Minister, and the Justice of the People’s Supreme Court were sworn in after being elected. The leaders promised to do their best to serve the fatherland and the people, be loyal to the nation, the people, and the Constitution and absolutely respect national interests. The swearing-in ceremonies consolidated the people’s trust in the leaders reflecting each leader’s individual responsibility before the NA and the people. They created a premise for the people to monitor the leaders’ performance, and promoted the supremacy of the Constitution. Party finalizes personnel preparations, backs TPP signing The Saigon Times Daily HCMC - The 11th Party Central Committee on January 13 finalized personnel preparations for the next term and agreed on Vietnam’s signing and ratification of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal after three days of meeting. Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong told the closing session of the committee’s 14th meeting in Hanoi on January 13 that members of the committee had discussed personnel preparations for the next term in a democratic, straightforward and responsible manner. They picked more members of the 11th Party Central Committee for re-election in the 12th tenure and additional members of the Politburo and the Party Secretariat for re-election in the next tenure. As many as 445 outstanding young people will attend the 4th Congress of youth following Uncle Ho’s teachings, to be held in Hanoi on August 28th-29th by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. The information was announced during a press conference on August 22nd. According to the organising committee, the Congress will honour outstanding individuals in the 2014-2016 period, and work out effective solutions to realise well the Politburo’s Directive 05 on increasing the studying and following of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style. The attendants, carefully selected from the grassroots level to the provincial level, are young individuals who have achieved excellent results in working, studying and practising; been good followers of President Ho Chi Minh’s ethical example; and made deserving contributions to the activities of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and teenagers’ movements.
