Vietnam, Laos strengthen scientific research cooperation

Head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission Pham Minh Chinh and President of the Japanese House of Councillors Oshima Tadamori (Source: VNA)  Tokyo (VNA) – Japan will continue working closely with Vietnam to effectively conduct projects funded by Japan’s official development assistance (ODA), especially in high-quality workforce development and administrative reform, said Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. During a reception in Tokyo on August 29 for Politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission Pham Minh Chinh, who is also Chairman of the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, Abe said Japan supports Vietnam in successfully holding the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting 2017 and wishes to increase bilateral ties in regional and global issues. Chinh asked Abe and the Japanese government to further promote bilateral comprehensive partnership, especially in ODA provision, and the development of infrastructure, high technology, and quality human resources, as well as share experience in administrative reform and public health care. The same day, Chinh met President of the Japanese House of Councillors Oshima Tadamori, Secretary General of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan cum President of the Japan – Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group Nikai Toshihiro and head of the LDP’s Policy Research Council Fumio Kishida. NDO - The Central Military Commission convened a conference in Hanoi on August 29 to review the implementation of defence and military tasks, as well as the construction of laws related to the defence sector in the recent past. The conference was chaired by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong who is also Secretary of the Central Military Commission. The conference also saw the presence of Politburo member, State President, and standing member of the Central Military Commission Tran Dai Quang; Politburo member, Prime Minister and standing member of the Central Military Commission Nguyen Xuan Phuc; and Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of Defense, General Ngo Xuan Lich. Speaking at the conference, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong praised the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of Defence for obtaining significant achievements over recent years. The Commission has effectively advised the Party and State on the implementation of the resolution, which was adopted at the fourth plenum of the twelfth Party Central Committee, on enhancing the building and rectification of the Party and preventing and curbing ideological, ethical and lifestyle degradation, as well as the manifestation of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” within the Party. NDO - The friendship between the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has been significantly reinforced in recent years, according to Chairman of the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) Shii Kazuo. He made the remark while receiving Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the CPV Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, in Tokyo, on August 27. Speaking at the reception, Politburo member Chinh congratulated the JCP on its current progress following its 27th congress, in addition to its success in the Tokyo council election. He also briefed his host on Vietnam’s current situation and the seventh theory exchange between the JCP and the CPV, while discussing the measures necessary to consolidate the relations between the two parties and countries. For his part, Shii Kazuo expressed his delight at the fruitful results of the seventh theory exchange, as well as the growing partnership between the two parties over the past few years. Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visits MyTel headquarters in Yangon, Myanmar (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The freshly-ended visits to Indonesia and Myanmar of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong marked a new milestone and created a new momentum for reinforcing political trust and boosting all-round cooperation between Vietnam and the two countries, said Hoang Binh Quan, head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations. Quan said that the visits, following the July visit of the Party leader to another ASEAN member of Cambodia, affirmed Vietnam’s external policy of highly valuing neighbouring and regional countries as well as the ASEAN, said Quan. The Party chief’s visit to Indonesia was the first made by a Party leader after the visit by late President Ho Chi Minh as a State leader in 1959. It aimed to beef up the bilateral strategic partnership and political trust, friendship and cooperation, marking new progress in the Vietnam-Indonesia relations. Meanwhile, the leader’s State visit to Myanmar aimed to bring the bilateral ties to a new height. The two sides officially set up their comprehensive cooperative partnership, noted Quan. NDO - Officials of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of Japan (CPJ) convened their seventh theoretical talks in Tokyo, Japan on August 26. The Vietnamese delegation at the event was led by Pham Minh Chinh – Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for Organisation. The host side was led by former Chairman of the CPJ and Director of CPJ Social Sciences Institute Fuwa Tetsuzo. Speaking at the exchange, Politburo member Pham Minh Chinh said that the two parties are facing a lot of new issues that need to be resolved in both theoretical and practical terms. He also emphasised the importance of coordination in research and the timely exchanges and sharing of views between the two parties, in order to enhance credibility, understanding and effective coordination in international forums. Politburo member Chinh expressed his belief that, through this theoretical discussion, the traditional friendship, solidarity and trust between the two parties will continue to be consolidated and further strengthened. The Party Central Committee’s Commission for Economic Affairs will host Smart Industry World 2017, the first of its kind in Viet Nam, on December 4-5. Representatives of relevant ministries and sectors attend the press conference on Smart Industry World 2017.  The exhibition site will be divided into three parts -- Fintech, software and information infrastructure and hardware (robot, automation and smart city models).   Speaking at a press conference in Ha Noi on Thursday, the commission’s deputy head, Ngo Van Tuan, said global development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, known as Industry 4.0, was not only challenging the country, but also giving it good opportunities to take advantage and solve a series of major problems in the country’s economic development and restructuring of the agricultural industry. The event, which will take place in JW Marriot, Ha Noi, is aimed at building a forum for the Party’s consulting agencies, State management bodies, researchers, experts and the business community to discuss orientation and methods to attract investment and develop the smart industry in Viet Nam. It will also improve connections among businesses and domestic and foreign investors to learn more about the potential, investment environment and co-operation opportunities in developing the smart industry in various sectors and localities in Viet Nam.
