Vietnamese Party leader receives Lao Party office chief

NDO/VNA – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has emphasised the significance of Vietnam-Laos traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation to the Parties and people of the two countries. During a reception in Hanoi on August 21 for Khamphanh Phommathat, Politburo member, Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and head of the LPRP Central Committee Office, General Secretary Trong hailed the Lao delegation’s visit at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties and 40 years since the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation. He spoke highly of cooperation between the Offices of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and the LPRP Central Committee in the recent past and the outcomes of their freshly-ended working session. The Vietnamese Party leader expressed wish that the two offices would continue working closely together and share experience and professionalism to fulfill their assigned tasks and effectively implement the bilateral cooperation agreement for 2017-2020 and an action plan to carry out the cooperation programme on records management, archives and library. NDO – The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security was honourably presented with the noble Award of the Lao People's Democratic Republic at a ceremony held in Hanoi on August 18. Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Politburo member and Minister of Public Security and Lieutenant General Somkeo Silavong, Lao Minister of Security, co-chaired the event. At the ceremony, under the authorisation of the Lao President, Lieutenant General Somkeo Silavong presented the Medal of Development (first class) to the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security. He also presented a Labour Medal (second class) to Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Public Security, Senior General Bui Van Nam for his achievements in coordinating with Laos to ensure the security and safety for political events staged in Laos in 2016, particularly the 28th-29th ASEAN Summit. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc (R) and Lao Minister of Public Security Somkeo Silavong (VNA)  Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc urged the public security forces of Vietnam and Laos to strengthen collaboration to ensure political security and social order in both countries during a reception for Lao Minister of Public Security Somkeo Silavong in Hanoi on August 17. The PM said the two public security forces must work together to thwart all plots by hostile forces to undermine the special Vietnam-Laos solidarity, underscoring the need to prevent any hostile force to make use of the territory of one country to hurt security and order of the other. Vietnamese and Lao children hold hands (Photo: VNA) Dak Lak (VNA) – Officials of Dak Lak, on August 16, received delegations of Vietnamese and Lao children who are taking part in a friendship summer camp in the Central Highlands province. At the reception, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong said exchange activities among children from both nations have fostered traditional relationship and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, governments and people. The exchanges also help implement joint programmes between the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and Lao People's Revolutionary Youth Union, he added. Cuong asked the children to make an effort in learning and contributing to their homeland as well as to bilateral relations. On the occasion, Cuong presented Dak Lak’s insignia to the Lao children delegation. The 2017 Vietnam – Laos friendship summer camp took place in Gia Lai, Kon Tum and Dak Lak provinces in the Central Highlands and in Khanh Hoa province in the central region from August 13 to 17.
