HCMC – The Vietnam Information Technology Outsourcing (VNITO) Conference this year will focus on the software outsourcing sector, IT services, experience sharing and cooperation with foreign firms.

At a press conference on August 8, the organizing committee of VNITO 2017 said the conference themed “Vietnam – Asia Tier 1 Delivery Destination” will take place at the Gem Center in District 1, HCMC on October 19-20, and feature a series of meetings between domestic and international firms.

Lam Nguyen Hai Long, CEO of Quang Trung Software City Development Company and chairman of VNITO Alliance, said the focus of the forthcoming conference will be to promote Vietnam’s software outsourcing sector and call for the city government to provide more policy support for companies in the sector.

Instead of honoring outstanding outsourcing firms like the Vietnam IT Outsourcing Excellence Awards 2015, the organizers this year will hold workshops for participants to share experiences and explore opportunities to build business ties with international partners.

Companies from the U.S. and Hungary will share their experience and explore cooperation prospects in hi-tech agriculture or information technology in Vietnam.

Previously, VNITO held six seminars on information technology, digital marketing and market research in HCMC and Hanoi, four in Japan, and two in the U.S. and Singapore. In addition, the association made direct contact with more than 10 foreign organizations in Vietnam and invited them to join the upcoming conference.

Nguyen Huu Le, chairman of TMA Solutions and member of the VNITO Conference 2017 advisory team, said domestic software outsourcing firms should pay attention to Japan as this is a highly potential market. Small and large firms can do business with Japanese partners.

Le added English-speaking countries are still the biggest markets of Vietnam but the competition there is increasingly fierce as there are more rivals from India and Eastern Europe.

In the IT outsourcing sector, domestic enterprises should focus more on research and development, and innovation to better compete globally, said Nguyen Quoc Hung, CEO of LogiGear Corporation.

According to outsourcing firms, orders from foreign countries have been rising sharply. But some orders have been lost since domestic firms could not meet a couple of demands such as deadline, skilled labor and English proficiency of workers.

At the conference, speakers will deliver more than 20 speeches on big data, Internet of Things, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, e-commerce and hi-tech agriculture.

The event will be attended by 500 international IT specialists from the U.S., Europe and Japan, and organized by VNITO Alliance, Quang Trung Software City (QTSC), the Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), the HCMC Computer Association (HCA) and Vietnam information technology developers in the U.S.
