Young Hanoians engage in voluntary work in Vientiane

PANO - Youths’ excellent creative products and outstanding youths of the Capital city of Hanoi in 2016 were honored on October 12 evening at the Students’ Cultural House in Hanoi by the Standing Committees of the Hanoi Youth Union organization and the Hanoi Youth Federation chapter. This was part of numerous practical activities in celebration of the 60th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Youth Federation (October 15) and the 25th anniversary of the re-establishment of the Hanoi Youth Federation chapter (October 26). At the ceremony, the organizing panel honored 11 typical creative products and works of Hanoi youths, selected from more than 50 entries sent from cells under the Hanoi Youth Union organization. The awarded products and works have been applied in real production, business and study or of high feasibility and applicability. Among the awardees are the devices used in developing children’s movement during physical training programs at kindergartens by Teacher Phan Thi Hoa Le from the Vietnam-Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Friendship Kindergarten in Dong Da district and the system that helps find sources of products and producers by Tran Minh Tuan, Chairman of Van Noi Youth Trade and Service Cooperative in Dong Anh district. The Hanoitimes - Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Hanoi and the Hanoi Youth Federation held a ceremony to launch the volunteer campaign in Xaythany district in Laos’ Vientiane capital on July 15. This is the eighth time Hanoi youth has carried out its volunteer activity in Vientiane, which contributes to promoting children and youth movements in the two capitals and continues nurturing the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. (VOV) - The sixth National Congress of the Hanoi Youth Federation (HYF) for the 2014-2019 term running from October 25-26 kicked off in Hanoi with a photo exhibition and blood donation drive. The photo exhibition entitled "October youth" displays 200 photographs on the youth movement highlighting the voluntary spirit of the young people across the capital in socio-economic activities. From Oct. 10-12, 205 young Hanoians donated 122 blood units, bringing the total number of donated blood to over 23,000 units, said the Hanoi Youth Federation. Vo Van Thuong, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth’s Union and VDVN national director, reviewed young people’s voluntary activities over the past few years, which have created an environment for them to help solve community problems. Thuong pledged closer to cooperation with international organisations to carry out the project in order to help improve the capacity and quality of the voluntary movement. This is part of the Young Volunteers’ Green Summer Volunteer Campaign 2010 which was launched by the Hanoi Youth Union and the Army-run Telecommunication Group (Vietel). Around 1,800 students from 50 universities and colleges in Hanoi together with 100 Vietel’s staff will co-ordinate with young people in 29 districts and towns to get involved in voluntary activities. Volunteers will focus on disseminating information on the culture and history of Thang Long-Hanoi, creating the image of elegant Hanoians, maintaining traffic safety, protecting environment.
