Activities celebrates National Day

NDO – A number of activities have been held across the country, as well as abroad to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).

On September 1, the Party Central Committee’s Office (PCCO) held a ceremony to mark the 72 years of Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day, during which delegates affirmed the significant meaning of the Party’s right revolutionary path and Uncle Ho’s attachment of national independence with socialism.

On the occasion, the Party Committee of the PCCO presented the insignia of 45 years of Party membership to Le Hong Anh, former Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat; and the insignia of 30 years of Party membership to Tran Quoc Vuong, Politburo member, permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and head of the Central Inspection Committee.

The same day, the Party Committee of the southern city organised activities to mark 72 years of the August Revolution (August 19) and the National Day. The event saw the presence of Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh.

On this occasion, Deputy PM Binh awarded the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces to the civilian medicine unit under the Military Zone 9 whilst the municipal Party Committee presented the insignia of Party membership to a number of party members in the city.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia held a ceremony on September 1 to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day.

The ceremony saw the presence of Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam Ol; Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn together with invitees, overseas Vietnamese living, studying and working in Cambodia.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Thach Du highlighted the historical significance of the August Revolution in 1945 and the National Day, opening up a new era of independence, freedom and happiness for the Vietnamese people. He expressed belief that bilateral ties and the neighbourliness of Vietnam and Cambodia will continue to thrive.

For his part, Cambodia Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhnonn noted that so far, Cambodia and Vietnam have finished 84% of their border demarcation and are working closely to deal with remaining differences for the interest of both peoples.

At the same time, economic ties between the two countries have progressed, with two-way trade reaching US$2.24 billion in the first seven months of this year. As a major investor in Cambodia, Vietnam invested nearly US$81 million to Cambodia in 2016, he noted, adding that the number of Vietnamese tourists to Cambodia also surged in recent years to reach nearly 1 million annually.

The Vietnamese Embassy in the Netherlands held a ceremony in Berlin on September 1. Ambassador Ngo Thi Hoa affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State always attach great importance to developing the strategic partnership with the Netherlands.

A ceremony was held in Canberra, Australia, on September 1 by the Vietnamese Embassy to celebrate Vietnam’s 72th National Day.

Ambassador Ngo Huong Nam took the occasion to express his appreciation for the support of governments, peoples, and organisations all over the world for Vietnam’s past struggle for national liberation and in the country’s current national-building and development cause.

A similar event was held in Japan’s capital of Tokyo with the participation of over 400 people.
