Citi Foundation of the US, in coordination with Vietnam Microfinance Working Group (MFWG), will launch the first Micro-Entrepreneurship award in Vietnam, aiming to encourage the poor in rural and mountainous areas to use loans from micro credit institutions to expand production and business activities, contributing to economic development. The ceremony of the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award (AREA) 2017 was held at the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel late Friday, with 300 CSR thought leaders and practitioners expected to attend from across the Asian region. Two Vietnamese entrepreneurs recently attended a U.S.-supported summit meant to spur economic growth in Africa with the participation of politicians, academics, and businesspeople.
