Laos congratulates Vietnam on 72nd anniversary of National Day

The event is held to mark 40 years since Vietnam and Laos signed a Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977-2017), the 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties (September 5, 1962-2017), and the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties (June 24, 1967-2017). Speaking at the opening ceremony, VMHM Director Nguyen Xuan Nang said that the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia special relationship is an example for the pure and faithful attachment between the three nations in their struggles for national liberation and social progress. The exhibition showcases over 300 photos, documents and objects divided into three parts. The first part includes photos, documents and objects highlighting the solidarity of the three Indochinese nations during the anti-French resistance war from 1945 to 1954. Meanwhile, their solidarity in the anti-US resistance war during 1954-1975 is highlighted in the second part which contains photos and objects related to the Truong Son strategic transportation route – a symbol of the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia relations. Meeting with the Slovakian diplomat, President Quang hailed the role and effective contributions made by Slovakian Ambassador to Vietnam Igor Pacolak during his tenure in Vietnam, describing it as one of the important factors in consolidating Vietnam-Slovakia friendly and cooperative ties. He suggested the two sides further enhance the role of the Vietnam-Slovakia Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation, intensify the exchange of visits by ministries, agencies and businesses, and promote trade and investment to further elevate two-way trade in the years to come. Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visits MyTel headquarters in Yangon, Myanmar (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The freshly-ended visits to Indonesia and Myanmar of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong marked a new milestone and created a new momentum for reinforcing political trust and boosting all-round cooperation between Vietnam and the two countries, said Hoang Binh Quan, head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations. Quan said that the visits, following the July visit of the Party leader to another ASEAN member of Cambodia, affirmed Vietnam’s external policy of highly valuing neighbouring and regional countries as well as the ASEAN, said Quan. The Party chief’s visit to Indonesia was the first made by a Party leader after the visit by late President Ho Chi Minh as a State leader in 1959. It aimed to beef up the bilateral strategic partnership and political trust, friendship and cooperation, marking new progress in the Vietnam-Indonesia relations. Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has applauded the establishment of the Myanmar-Vietnam Friendship Association in July this year and asked the association to help with the realization of bilateral agreements. Trong made the statement at a meeting with Chairman of the association U Tint Swai in Yangon on August 26, as part of his current State visit to Myanmar. He told his host that Vietnam greatly values Myanmar’s support during its past struggle for national independence, noting that his current visit aims at elevating bilateral relations to new heights. Both sides have issued a joint statement on establishing a comprehensive cooperative partnership to reinforce cooperation in politics, trade, security-defence, and people-to-people exchanges, as well as at regional and international forums, he said.
