PM Phuc meets his Lao and Cambodian counterparts

Both government leaders agreed to deepen political ties, boost economic cooperation, focus on key infrastructure projects, and strengthen communication to raise public awareness on the bilateral special solidarity. They pledged to implement a cooperation agreement for 2016 – 2020 and promote the legacy of the Vietnam-Lao Friendship Year 2017.Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hailed Cambodia’s hosting of the Second Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Summit as a contribution to elevating Cambodia’s role and position in the region.Phuc praised the tremendous achievements Cambodia have recorded over recent years while expressing confidence that the Royal Government of Cambodia led by Samdech Techo Hun Sen will continue to lead Cambodia on its development path towards peace, stability and prosperity. With that spirit, PM Phuc wished the Cambodian people would successfully hold Senate elections in February and parliamentary elections in July and affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of strengthening and developing the relations “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability” with Cambodia. The PM expressed their delight at the positive development of bilateral relations in recent times, especially the two countries’ close coordination in organizing the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2017 and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The two sides agreed to take effective measures to help their people, especially younger generations gain a proper perception of the value of friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam and be responsible for preserving and further cultivating this relationship.
