The Hanoi Tax Department recently hosted a solemn ceremony to commend 423 outstanding taxpayers in the city in 2014.Ha Minh Hai, Director of Hanoi Tax Department, said, that although domestic and global economies continued to undergo a tough time in 2014, the Hanoi tax sector still outstandingly fulfilled its tasks thanks to positive efforts and contributions of individual and organisational taxpayers. A Ministry of Finance investigation recently uncovered VND 1.441 trillion (USD69.2 million) in embezzled funds in a HCM City Tax Office bank account. Enterprises paying taxes to District 1’s branch. A Ho Chi Minh City-based woman who sells cosmetic via Facebook has been asked to pay VND9.1 billion (US$400,881) in tax arrears, the municipal taxman has said.The ‘Facebook seller’ registered her business in Phu Nhuan District, according to the Ho Chi Minh City tax department.Local tax authorities have inspected the woman’s tax payment after receiving a tip-off that she did not declared her income honestly enough.Following the inspection, the Phu Nhuan taxman found a difference of VND400 billion ($17.62 million) between the revenue she declared for tax payment and the real income.The cosmetic seller has agreed to clear the payment,…... As many as 400 representatives from 320 enterprises participated in the dialogue organised by the HCM City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) and the HCM City Tax Department.
