Mr. Minh briefed the participants on Vietnamese efforts to reform, proactively integrate into the world, reduce trade barriers, enhance national management capability, create a favorable environment for investors, and promote international trade. The Vietnamese government’s efforts, together with the international community’s support, have considerably contributed to economic growth, poverty reduction, developing Vietnam into a middle-income country focused on environmental protection and social equality. Vietnam calls on the international community to maintain their support for low middle-income countries and the shifting economies. Mr. Minh said Vietnam has assisted less-developed countries through South-South cooperation and trilateral cooperation with an international sponsor. Vietnam hopes that developed countries and the international community will continue its support for this effort.
While working with the Vietnamese delegation on Monday, Arancha González, the Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC), said they will consider assisting Vietnam’s small and medium sized enterprises to get connected with foreign businesses. The center pledged to support Vietnam in promoting South-South cooperation through the trilateral cooperation model between Vietnam, the ITC and Africa.
Within the conference’s framework, Vietnam will also attend the Ministerial Meetings of the G77 and China, and take part in activities at the Global Commodities Forum, the World Investment Forum, the World Service Forum, and Francophonie.
