2017 Global Summit of Women

The 27th Global Summit of Women is scheduled to take place in Tokyo, Japan from May 10 to 13, 2017. Themed “Beyond Womenomics: Accelerating Access”, the meeting will bring together women leaders in business and government around the globe.

This summit is incorporated with such main events as Global and Regional Economic Megatrends; Male CEO Forum: Leading Diversity from the Top; Women Leading Stock Exchanges; Luncheon Program: Women Entrepreneurs’ Forum.

Besides, it includes Breakout Sessions I: Leadership Development Track: Building Your Brand Internally and Externally; Entrepreneurial Track: Stepping from the Brink: Recovering from Business Setbacks; Issues Track: Women Game Innovators and Animation.

The Breakout Sessions II programme comprises Leadership Development Track: Accelerating Women’s Access to Board Seats. Youth Forum Tech-Based Enterprises; Issues Track: Social Entrepreneurship and the Silver Economy

The Global Women’s Leadership Awards Gala Dinner is set to take place on May 12.

The following activities are Breakfast Special Session: The Business of Fashion and Design; Debate: Defining a ‘Balanced’ Work/Life.

Specially, Women CEO Forum: Accelerating Women’s Corporate Leadership will draw the attendance of many female entrepreneurs.

In 2016, the 26th Global Summit of Women was held in Warsaw, Poland under the theme “Women: Advance Inclusive Economy in the Digital Age”. This event showed the pioneering spirit and dynamism of women’s leaders in business in applying information technology and creative initiatives in business. The summit was attended by nearly 1,000 leaders from 74 economies.

At this gathering, speakers underlined women’s roles in economic development of businesses and nations, and affirmed the advancement of information technology and internet will open up more opportunities of success for women’s business leaders. But, to do this, they needed to confidently assert themselves and constantly strive for development.

In addition to plenary sessions, the summit included many practical sessions on such topics as advancing women’s leaders in business, building and developing business in the information technology era, promoting women’s engagement in technology, using social networks in business development and communication in the internet age, building an inclusive economy, managing multi-generation working environment, and building co-worker relationship in the digital age.

During the three-day conference, the Vietnamese delegation led by Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh actively participated in meetings and shared information on public relations projects, scientific and technological application to business construction and development, policies and programmes on abolition of barriers to women in localities.

The business delegation, which accompanied the Vice President, comprised of 35 leaders of State and private enterprises in many provinces and cities across the country like Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Phu Yen, Hue, Da Nang, Lam Dong, Ben Tre, Dong Thap and Dak Lak.

Enterprises engaged in garment; production and trading of agricultural products, coffee and tea; cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and medical eqipment; transportation services, seaport, tourism, restaurant and hotel; and general trade and investment. Delegates were CEOs, Board Presidents and Executives.
At this summit, the 2016 Global Women’s Leadership Award was presented to Irina Bokova, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), and the Young Entrepreneurial Woman Award was bestowed on Justyna Wysocka Golec.
