Dien Bien greets over 51,000 tourist arrivals in April

On the basis of visitor arrivals and reservations at hotels, the northwestern mountainous province of Dien Bien is expected to receive more than 51,000 travellers in April 2017, especially those during Hung Kings’ death anniversary and April 30th holidays.

This figure increased by 20.4% compared to the same period last year, and foreign tourists are estimated to reach nearly 10,500, a year-on-year rise of 12.4%, grossing a total turnover of VND77.6 billion, up 30.9% over a year earlier.

Currently, hotels and motels in Dien Bien Phu city are full due to reservations, and the number of visitors is expected to rise sharply in the coming days, especially from April 30th to May 7th.

In 2016, Dien Bien welcomed more than 480,000 tourist arrivals, a 14% rise over a year earlier, in which foreigners were 80,000. Total turnover from tourism activities reached an estimated VND710 billion, up 29% year on year./.
