Stamp set recognizing Genenral Van Tien Dungs contributions make debut

The stamp featuring the portrait of General Van Tien Dung and highlighting his feats of arms

The event was to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of the general (May 2) and to mark the 42nd anniversary of the liberation of Southern Vietnam and national reunification (April 30).

The stamp set includes one stamp designed by painter To Minh Trang, a VNPost’s staff. The stamp features a portrait of General Van Tien Dung in the uniform of the Vietnam People’s Army. It demonstrates the courage of a resilient communist warrior, a talented general, and an outstanding military prowess of Vietnam named Van Tien Dung.

The background of the stamp is the national flag, illustrating General Van Tien Dung’s feats of arms in the national salvation, construction and defense cause.

The VND 3,000 stamp with 43×32 mm in size is available at all post-offices.

The issuance of such a stamp set would help young generations learn more about the life and career of a talented general of Vietnam and in part educate patriotism among locals, especially youths.

General Van Tien Dung was a distinguished disciple of President Ho Chi Minh and a military prowess of Vietnam. He devoted his life to the Party’s ideal and to the national liberation and reunification cause as well as national building and protection. His life and career closely attached to great victories in the two national resistance wars against French and American invaders with historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign in April 1975 as a pinnacle.
