Party official meets with foreign diplomatic missions

NDO – Vietnamese representative offices in foreign countries should focus on encouraging and supporting overseas Vietnamese, acting as a bridge and effectively conveying the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies and laws on external activities to overseas Vietnamese.

The requirement was made by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC commission for Communication and Education Vo Van Thuong, during his meeting with ambassadors and heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad for the 2017-2020 tenure, in Hanoi on May 30.

Addressing the meeting, Politburo member Thuong emphasised the coordination between the representative offices abroad with ministries, agencies and localities at home in promoting collaboration in trade, investment and science-technology between Vietnam and other nations, seeking promising partners to join the global value chain, and mobilising the support of foreign non-governmental orgnisations for national economic development and social welfare.

He encouraged the diplomats to study lessons passed down by the previous generations regarding the struggle for national liberation, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the combination between economy, culture, national defence, security and foreign affairs, and applying them in the new context.

The Politburo member also noted that ambassadors and heads of Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad would create favourable condition for overseas Vietnamese to visit the fatherland as well as develop business activities in the homeland, significantly contributing to the cause of national construction and defence.
