Ha Tinh marks 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations

On display are 114 prints, photos, paintings, graphics and sculptures by 40 Vietnamese and 11 Lao artists.The exhibition also celebrates the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Friendship Treaty 30 years ago (July 18).The Vietnamese artists used sketches made during the American War and material gathered during visits to Laos over the last few years.Meanwhile, the members of the Lao Fine Arts Association have used material collected during their visit to Hanoi for a fine arts workshop earlier this year.Vietnam and Laos closely collaborated during the French and American wars, and the people of the two countries have enjoyed special relations since then.Bang Lam, vice president of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, said his association has worked closely with its Lao counterpart, and that artists from the two countries regularly made exchange visits.The exhibition, at 16 Ngo Quyen Street, runs until July 18. Meanwhile, festivals will also be held in Laos’ Vientiane capital and Bolikhamsay and Savannakhet provinces from July 15-21. A strong 140-member Vietnamese delegation will attend activities during the festivals. PANO - Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Defence Minister, warmly received a working delegation from the Lao Defence Ministry Office, led by its deputy chief, Colonel Khamsi Vongkhamsao on January 25th. (VEN) - In the recent period, many meetings and visits by high-ranking leaders of Vietnam and Laos to each other's country took place to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations (September 5) and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Agreement. The two countries have agreed to mark 2012 as the Year of Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship. Each country has established a national steering committee to promote bilateral cooperation activities. Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs said Vietnamese and Lao people, from generation to generation, respect, maintain and cultivate special relations, solidarity and mutual assistance between the two countries. Since Vietnam and Laos established diplomatic relations in 1962 and especially since the two countries signed the Friendship and Cooperation Agreement in 1977, the bilateral relationship has been continuously strengthened, significantly contributing to the liberation and development of the two fraternal nations. PANO – Many Vietnamese and foreign businesses from Japan, Taiwan, Laos and Malaysia took part in an international trade fair opened on August 28th at the Can Tho Exhibition Fair Centre by the Can Tho City People’s Committee and Ministry of Industry and Commerce. VGP - A program on cultural, sport and tourism exchanges between Vietnam and Laos kicked off on August 18 in Ha Tinh City, with the participation of six Vietnamese and Lao art troupes. It is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 35th years of signing the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty, the 50th founding anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations. Art and documentary photography exhibition on "Vietnam - Laos friendship and cooperation" opened on 16th July evening at the City Art and Exhibition Center is one of significant activities to respond to the "Year of Vietnam - Laos friendship and solidarity - 2012" and the 50th anniversary of establishment of Vietnam - Laos diplomatic relations. The exhibition was co-organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Foreign Affairs of Haiphong City.
