After winning the award for 2014 last year, Prudential Finance is the first consumer finance company in Vietnam to receive the “Excellent Performance” Award for two consecutive years. The award by SBV is given in recognition of the company’s excellent performance in business, risk management, personnel development and technology applied in business and corporate management. MoHA Deputy Minister Nguyen Trong Thua said in early October 2012, his ministry finished selecting 580 young persons with university diplomas for the project, which has been carried out in 20 provinces. They have made active contributions to building clean and strong grassroots political systems and directly engaging in local socio-economic development tasks, he noted, adding that the project has also helped fine-tune mechanisms and policies on discovering, selecting and training young officials in Vietnam. Over the last five years, 351 project members have proactively suggested and directly carried out 834 socio-economic development programmes, plans and projects. Thua cited a Ngoc Linh ginseng farming model initiated by Vice Chairman of the Tra Linh communal People’s Committee Dinh Hong Thang in Quang Nam province, saying this model has helped local residents escape from poverty. Youngster Chau Kieu Oanh, the female archer who twice missed out on the gold medal in the past two days, coupled with veteran Nguyen Tien Cuong to beat their opponents from Thailand 156-154 to progress to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, Kieu Oanh and Tien Cuong were defeated by hosts Malaysia in the semi-final with a score of 152-154, meaning that they had to settle for a place in the bronze medal match with De La Crus and Cojuangco of the Philippines. Each archer was allowed to shot twice in a total of four rounds to finish the match. In the first round, the two teams followed each other one by one. More than 1,500 runners from districts, universities and colleges in Hanoi and other cities provinces across the country joined in the competition. The race also attracted the participation of more than 300 foreigners from 30 international friendship organisations and embassies in Hanoi and nearly 700 pupils, office staff and military forces from 29 of the capital city’s district teams.
