Military unit builds school for students in border area

On February 16th, in the northwestern mountainous province of Lai Cai, representatives from Vietnam and China signed an agreement and protocol on the construction of a bridge spanning the Red River in the Lao Cai-Hekou border area. Construction of the new bridge is expected to help further develop trade on the Kunming-Hekou-Lao Cai-Ha Noi-Hai Phong economic corridor, which became much busier. VNGOP - Japan's Canon will provide more than US$ 400,000 for the construction of 16 schools in remote areas of the country from now until 2010. A memorandum of understanding underscoring the aid was signed in Hà Nội on July 18 by President and CEO of the Canon group Tsuneji Uchida and Deputy Minister of Education and Training Phạm Vũ Luận. PANO - The High Command of Military Zone 7 and the Southern Province of Long An have opened a school in Hung Dien A Commune, Vinh Hung District for local pupils.
