Politburo member visits storm-ravaged Tram Tau district

NDO – Politburo member Tran Quoc Vuong and the delegation of deputies for the 13th National Assembly (NA) from the northern province of Yen Bai, have inspected recovery efforts in the especially damaged district of Tram Tau, Yen Bai province, one of the hardest-hit provinces by the recent flash floods.

At Hat 2 mountain village, Hat Luu commune of the Tram Tau district, Politburo member Tran Quoc Vuong, who is head of the Central Inspection Committee, visited the Thai ethnic minority family of Lo Van Muoi, who has lost five relatives due to the recent floods.

The Politburo member also presented gifts and encouraged some of the other Mong ethnic minority households, in the mountain village of Suoi Giao, Xa Ho commune, whose houses were washed away during the recent flash floods.

According to the report of Yen Bai province, by October 14, flash floods in the province have left nine dead, 15 missing, and seven injured. Torrential rains and floods also affected over 1,251 houses, including 71 destroyed houses, causing losses of up to VND 500 billion.

Politburo Tran Quoc Vuong, on behalf of the Party, the State and the National Assembly, highly appreciated provincial authorities for their efforts in helping people recover from damages caused by the storm.

He also asked the province to effectively implement the arrangements prepared beforehand for residential areas, crops and animal husbandry, and to devise a recovery strategy for future disasters.
