Vietnam wins first-ever 3 golds at world weightlifting champs

The Vietnamese team grabbed three gold medals in the final round of the 2012 Asian Muay Thai Championships which started in HCM City on the evening of July 12. In the under-60kg category, Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat defeated Pun Magar from Nepal to bring home the first gold. Then, Nguyen Doan Long thrashed India’s Rane Manthan Mukesh in the under-54kg category to get the second gold. In the female event, athlete Bui Thi Quynh won the third gold in the under-45kg category.They are seventeen matches in the final round with thirteen athletes involved. Fencers win 9 golds at regional champs Vietnamese fencers have successfully bagged a total of 9 gold,3 silver and 2 bronze medals at the ongoing Southeast Asian Fencing Championships in Malaysia. The nine gold medals were captured in four team events (men’s sabre, men’s epee, women’s sabre, and women’s epee), and five single events. The HCM City based six-member dance troupe won their medal for their performance of Nanshi (Unicorn Dance), which they completed in 1 minute 41 seconds – one second behind the winners from Macau.The Vietnamese team beat a number of strong contenders, including teams from the Chinese, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, and should stand them in good stead for the third Asian Indoor Games (AIG).
