Reviewing Vietnam’s prominent socio-economic performance in 2017, Mr. Quang said these results have helped consolidate trust and create a favorable environment for Vietnam’s sustainable development, which has been recognized by the international community. The UN ranked Vietnam’s sustainable development index in 2017 68 th among 157 countries and territories, up 20 places against 2016. According to the President, 2017 saw Vietnam’s success in foreign affairs when the country continued to strengthen relations with neighboring and regional countries, major partners, and traditional friends. In particular, the successful hosting of APEC 2017 put Vietnam in the international spotlight and opened new prospects of investment and trade growth for Asia-Pacific and Vietnam. President Quang said that in 2018, the domestic and international situation will require Vietnam to work harder during its course of renewal and national construction and defense. In this context, the whole Vietnamese Party and people need to uphold solidarity and self-reliance, and seize opportunities to move forward.
