The 9th international exhibition on shipbuilding, shipping, and offshore technology (Vietship 2018) officially opened in Hanoi yesterday morning, attracting nearly 100 companies from Vietnam, the Netherlands, South Korea, Finland, and Russia. The ribbon cutting ceremony to open Vietship 2018 During the three-day event, the exhibitors will showcase shipbuilding, ship repair, and maintenance technology, materials and equipment for shipbuilding, equipment and facilities for shipyards and offshore engineering and facilities, as well as waterway transportation and services, marine supply logistics and ports technology and equipment. “This year’s Vietship is held in a market recovering from the impact of the global economic crisis. Despite difficulties ahead, there are still many opportunities for international groups to tap into the huge potential of the industry,” said Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Cong. Vietnamese leaders visit the exhibition site As part of Vietship, many activities will be held, such as a Buyer Forum and a workshop discussing the opportunities and challenges of the shipping market and shipbuilding, and the signing ceremony of contracts among exhibitors. Vietship 2018 is taking place at the National Convention Centre and is expected to attract more than 10,000 visitors. The previous event saw 19 contracts and agreements worth over VND500 billion ($22.4 million) inked between domestic and foreign partners. About 100 Vietnamese businesses will participate in the seventh China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO 2010) to take place in Guangxi province's Nanning city from October 20-24. Various kinds of Vietnamese products such as farm produce, leather shoes, home appliances, wooden furniture, and handicrafts will be displayed on a site of 3,240 square meters of 170 pavilions at the five-day event.
