Dantri/DTiNews has opened new classrooms for disadvantaged children at Chieng Kheo Primary School in Son La Province on January 3. Dantri’s Deputy Editor-in-chief Pham Tuan Anh, head of Compassionate Parents Charity Group Nguyen Thi Thanh, leaders of Mai Son District, Chieng Kheo Commune together with parents and teachers at Pang Sang B site under Chieng Kheo Primary School attended the ceremony. Winds often get in through the holes and wide gaps of the walls and the wood planks and pillars are largely damaged by termites in the dilapidated classrooms. However, the gaps also let the sunshine in the classrooms. The teachers replaced part of the roof with a transparent plastic sheet to get more light. Pang Sang B school site has four classrooms for five different grades.In addition, as the four classrooms are so close to each other, noise from each classroom can be heard. Lo Van Toan, a teacher at Pang Sang B, said what they found most difficult was collecting enough textbooks and notebooks for the pupils. “We let first and second graders or third and fourth graders sit together but it’s inconvenient,” Vu Thi Hoa, head of Chieng Kheo Primary School said. Parkson’s application for an investment licence is now awaiting approval from the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
