Following is the full text of the opening speech by Chairwoman of Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan at the opening ceremony of the 26th meeting of Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26). Excellencies Heads of Parliament, Heads of Parliamentary Delegations of APPF member and observer countries, Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, On behalf of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Vietnamese people, it is my great pleasure to welcome parliamentary delegations of member and observer countries, and distinguished guests to the 26th APPF meeting in Hanoi, the capital of a thousand years of history. Welcome to a country of famous tourist attractions, of a friendly and dynamic people, and of great cultural richness. I would also like to extend my warmest greetings to members of the Diplomatic Corps, international and Vietnamese guests. It is a great honour that Viet Nam was once again chosen as the host of APPF, an important meeting of parliamentarians from all countries in the region. On this occasion, I would like to sincerely thank APPF member parliaments for their confidence in and high regard for the National Assembly and Vietnamese people. Ladies and Gentlemen, It has been 25 years since the adoption of the Tokyo Declaration in January 1993, through which 15 nations’ parliaments established the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum. PANO - The Seventh ASEAN Air Chiefs Conference (AACC-7) officially opened this morning (August 20th) in Hanoi with the participation of the delegates from 10 ASEAN member states' air forces. The delegates to the AACC-7, chaired by Lieutenant General Le Huu Duc, Vietnamese Air Force and Air Defence Commander, focused their discussion on "Enhancing cooperation of ASEAN Air Forces for peace, stability and development".
