Outstanding individuals and groups honored at the event According to President of the Committee of the VFF’s chapter in Ho Chi Minh City To Thi Bich Chau, in 2017, the Committee mobilized more than VND 30 billion for the fund “For border areas, seas and islands”. The Committee also encouraged recruits in 2017 with more than VND 1.73 billion, presented gifts worth nearly VND 258 million to cadres and troops stationed on Phu Quoc Island (Kien Giang province) and gifts worth VND 19 billion to those stationed on DK1 platforms. Moreover, the VFF chapter handed over five construction works to localities in Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Long An, Dong Thap, and Ca Mau provinces at the total cost of VND 2.5 billion; gave a 16-seater vehicle to the fisheries surveillance force, and more. Also in 2017, the chapter continued to boost raising funds for the “For the Poor” Fund, exceeding 175% of the set target, getting a donation of more than VND 193 billion. HCM City (VNA) - A new set of criteria relating to education, health, employment, social insurance, living conditions and access to information will be applied to determine poor and near-poor households in the 2016-2020 period, the Saigon Times Daily reported.
