Cang highlighted the close and effective relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Lao localities over the past year, particularly in education and investment. Ho Chi Minh City has established friendly and cooperative ties with the Lao capital city of Vientiane and Champasak province, he said, adding they have actively implemented cooperation projects, such as providing technical assistance for improving beef cattle herds, training budget management skills. Cang expressed his hope that the two nations’ procuracy agencies will continue boosting their cooperation and information exchanges, and supporting each other in staff training. For his part, the Lao guest said the fruitful cooperation between the two nations’ procuracy sector contributes to consolidating the long-lasting special relationship between Vietnam and Laos. Ho Chi Minh City will help some of its local businesses join the world’s top 500 companies, a city leader said. A downpour early Saturday evening turned multiple streets in Ho Chi Minh City into ‘rivers’ as local houses were unroofed by severe winds. A drove of vehicles suffered from engine failure in the waist-deep water, leading to traffic congestion on some outskirt roads. On National Road 50, which connects Ho Chi Minh City with the Mekong Delta provinces of Long An and Tien Giang, kilometers of vehicles could be observed stranded in water deeper than one meter.
