Japanese film week in Da Nang to screen 11 movies

The festival is jointlyorganised by the European Union (EU) delegation and the embassies of EUmember countries in Vietnam, and the Da Nang Cinema and FilmDistribution Centre as part of the “Europe Days 2013” programme. The bronze sculpture, a copy of the original in Japan, was created by Japanese Mizushima Iwane – a sculptor from Todaiji temple. It is 88cm high and weighs 33kg. Thanks to the 9-day break for Tet and the favourable weather conditions later in the week, Da Nang welcomed 222,108 visitors during the festival, both domestic and international, which is a rise of 21.5% over the same period last year. Around 36% of these visitors were foreigners, representing a 16.7% year-on-year increase, whilst the remainder were domestic visitors, up by 24.4 %.
