The latest figures from the General Statistics Office show that an estimated 12.9 million international visitors arrived in Vietnam during 2017, up 29.1% against 2016. December saw Vietnam welcome 1.28 million international tourists, up 8.9% against November and 42.2% year-on-year. December saw the highest number of international visitors during the year. Those from Asia grew 34.4% in total, with tourists from China rising 48.6%, South Korea 56.4%, Japan 7.6%, Taiwan 21.5%, Malaysia 17.9%, Thailand 13%, and Singapore 8%. (VEN) - According to a PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC)'s APEC CEO Survey, announced at the 2012 APEC Summit on September 7-8, 2012 in Vladivostok, Russia. Vietnam ranks ninth among investment destinations in the region, and eleventh in the community of developed economies. The poll questioned 376 chief executive officers (CEOs) and industry leaders from 40 economies, including 21 APEC member economies. Vietnam has been ranked 11th out of 133 economies in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) 2009 Index on the amount of money the government spends on technology. Vietnam’s expenditure on technology is even higher than that of China, the Republic of Korea and the United Kingdom. The Southeast Asian nation also came 44th for creativity, 48th for foreign direct investment and technology transfer, 51st for the technological abilities of enterprises and 62nd for the ratio of personal computers per 100 residents. After the Miss World pageant, Globabeauties announced its yearly Grand Slam ranking based on largest beauty contests in 2008. Vietnam is graded at 48th, with 63 points, seven grades higher than 2007.
