HCM City, Japan’s prefecture promote tourism, hi-tech agriculture cooperation Ho Chi Minh City and Japan’s Kagoshima prefecture boast huge cooperation potential in tourism, food processing and high-tech agricultural production, said Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong. Holding a reception on January 16 for Governor of Kagoshima prefecture Mitazono Satoshi, Phong hoped that both sides will develop cooperation programmes in the fields. He hailed Kagoshima position as a gateway to connect Japan with the Southeast Asian region and expressed his wish that enterprises and investors from Kagoshima will increase their presence in the Vietnamese southern hub with a line-up of investment projects in economy and trade, education and tourism. He said that the moves will help promote ties between the two localities, thus consolidating and deepening the Vietnam-Japan friendship. For his part, Mitazono Satoshi noticed that his visit to Vietnam aims to connect and develop ties with Vietnamese localities, particularly Ho Chi Minh City. He expected that Ho Chi Minh City leaders will create favourable conditions for Kagoshima firms to promote trade and investment cooperation in the city, especially in fields of Kagoshima’s strength like tourism and agriculture. New drama theater inaugurated in HCMCA new drama theater has been inaugurated at 81 Tran Quoc Thao Street in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 3 on November 18.Quoc Thao Theater is co-invested by the Center of art literature experimenting and training under the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations; and the Th Entertainment Company by actors Quoc Thao and Quoc Thuan.The theater includes an experimental stage, a practice stage, and a 250-seat main stage. ASEAN sends aid to typhoon victims in Vietnam Aid arriving from ASEAN arrives at Cam Ranh Airport.An aid package from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for victims of deadly typhoon Damrey arrived in the south central province of Khánh Hoà Thursday morning.An airplane from Malaysia carried the goods, including 600 sets of utensils, 3,000 sets of personal hygiene aids, 1,000 sets of house repair tools, an aluminium-clad ship and a 40 HP engine. National investigation into vehicle fires begins It could take authorities up to 18 months to complete a national study into the spate of unexplained vehicle fires, an official has said. Trinh Ngoc Giao, Director of the Ministry of Transport's Vietnam Register, told DTiNews that it remained a pressing issue, and they would try to shorten the investigation to around one year if possible.
