Travellers are advised to drop by the orchards by the 20th of the 12th lunar month, which falls on February 5 this year, as local farmers will start picking fruit for sale during the peak Tet (Lunar New Year) season. From HCM City, travellers can take a bus to Dong Thap province at tour operators’ offices on Pham Ngu Lao, De Tham and Bui Vien streets in district 1 or at a bus station on Le Hong Phong street in district 10. The 35ha sanctuary of Gao Giong is the largest facility of its kind in Dong Thap Muoi. Visitors to the sanctuary feel like falling into the wonderful world of birds and forests. There are dozens of types of birds, especially white egrets and Gao Giong has almost 1,700ha of indigo trees in Cao Lanh district, Dong Thap province.
