Rescue forces are searching for 15 fishermen missing from five fishing boats that sank off the coast of the central province of Thanh Hoa. Provincial authorities have asked the Vietnam National Committee for Search and Rescue to help. Rescue forces are searching for 15 fishermen missing from five fishing boats that sank off the coast of the central province of Thanh Hoa According to Nguyen Duc Quyen, Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Province People’s Committee, the boats sank in rough seas which hit the coastal areas of Thanh Hoa Province on January 8-10. 15 of the 25 crew on the five boats are still missing. Fishing boats which are operating near the areas where the boats sank were also called to join the search. Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa Province has sought support from the northern port city of Haiphong’s rescue forces.
As previously reported , the ship, owned by Nguyen Quoc Phong, 30, of Quang Loc Commune, Quang Trach district. Quang Binh province sank at 4 am on December 30, five days after it left the Quang Trach seashore for a fishing trip. Two rescue ships were sent to the scene, but due to violent waves and strong winds, rescuers faced a lot of difficulties. Of the victims, four are brothers in a family.
