The Ministry of Public Security on Monday detained the former vice chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee and former Chairman of the PetroVietnam Construction Corporation (PVC), Trinh Xuan Thanh to investigate into his alleged violations of state regulations.Thanh, 51, gave himself up to police on July 31 after a time fleeing to Germany when his violations were uncovered and his punishments were announced, police said.According to the investigation police, Thanh was accused of violating state regulations on economic management resulting in losses of nearly VND3.3 trillion (USD142 million) for the PVC during his leadership from 2011-2013.
