Most of the new faculties will be in the social fields. In the IT field, cyber-safety will be taught first at eight universities, including Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Military Technical Academy, Academy of Cryptography Techniques, and Post and Telecommunications Institute of Technology. Students taking part in a practice lesson at Ho Chi Minh City International University under Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City. In the health field, a nutrition faculty will be created. No new faculties will be created in veterinary medicine, art and life science. Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture will have a new faculty of Urban Fine Arts to meet the demand for coherent development of landscapes and living spaces in urban areas. Van Lang University in Ho Chi Minh City will enrol students in its new major of applied literature under the faculty of Public Relations and Communications. The Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education has completed procedures to open six new faculties including graphic design, architecture, construction management, renewable energy, food services and restaurant administration, and technological education. The university will continue its high-quality training programs in English in two additional faculties. According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the country in the 2017-18 academic year has 235 universities and institutes, not including those in national defense and security. Many universities are offering new subjects for study in the next academic year to meet human resources demand in different sectors. Students reading information on the 2012 university entrance exams at a consulting event recently organised in the southern province of Binh Phuoc Students will have to choose the appropriate subject group in the upcoming university entrance examinations to gain admission to these subjects. Many universities nationwide have opened new departments of learning, despite failing to meet the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET)’s requirements on the number of doctors and masters. MoET has recently released the result of an inspection on 24 universities, which found that many of them have continued to launch new departments without qualified faculty. Under the ministry’s regulations, to open a new department, universities must have at least one doctor and three masters in the area.
