Vietnam-Indonesia relationship contributes to ASEAN development

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of International Trade, also co-chaired a meeting with economic ministers of the 10 ASEAN member states during which senior officials were tasked with preparing terms of reference for a feasibility study on the merits of a free trade agreement (FTA) between Canada and this dynamic and fast-growing ASEAN region of over 600 million consumers. He said Vietnam has originated many initiatives to boost cooperation within ASEAN, one of which was to help all 10 countries in Southeast Asia join the group.
