The 14th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Joint Working Group on Border Marker Planting will wrap up today in Laos after discussing the building of more markers and upgrading existing ones along the borderline of the two countries. Vietnam and Laos need to step up information and experience exchange in administrative reform and wage policy as they are common concerns of the two home affairs ministries, said President Truong Tan Sang. The three Heads of the State auditing agencies introduced the current auditing system in each country and pointed out future advantages and disadvantages. They shared their experiences in helping the Government implement economic development strategies. They discussed measures to boost cooperation between the three agencies and agreed to frequent exchange visits to increase the capacity of auditors and auditing agencies. Nhan Dan/VNA - Vietnam and Laos have agreed to abide fully by border management agreements signed in the past and to strengthen co-operation for a borderline of peace and friendship. The agreement was reached during talks between Lt Gen Vo Trong Viet, commander of the Border Defence Force, and Syphanphut Thavong, director of the Border and Mapping Department under the General Staff of the Lao People's Army, in Vientiane on November 12. Vietnam and Laos have agreed on a number of measures to speed up the planting of markers along their shared borderline, and build a plan for the task in 2010 at the fifth joint session of border experts from the two nations from June 28 to July 3.
