The top legislators of Vietnam and Mongolia held talks in Hanoi on January 22following a grand welcome ceremony for Miyegombo Enkhbold and a high-leveldelegation of the Mongolian parliament, who are in Hanoi for an official visitfrom January 20-23. The two legislative leaders stressed the need to maintainmutual visits and meetings between the two countries’ senior leaders, sayingthat these activities are necessary to define major directions for pushingforward the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Mongolia. The two sides pledged to effectively implement agreements signed in the fieldsof diplomacy and security-defence; increase dialogues, information andexperience sharing at all levels; join hands in fighting crimes; enhancepartnership in defence industry, logistics and military medicine; andaccelerate negotiations of agreements on criminal extradition andthe transferof convicted persons. State President Nguyen Minh Triet attended the Vietnam-Mongolia business forum in Ulan-Bator on October 31 as part of his official visit to Mongolia. A get-together was held by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations and the Vietnam-Mongolia Friendship Organisation (VMFO) in Hanoi on Nov. 17 to mark the 55th anniversary of Vietnam-Mongolia diplomatic ties.
