With the plan, VNPT hopes to become a strong State-owned economic group, a leading digital services supplier in Vietnam and a digital transaction centre in Southeast Asia and Asia. The group is aiming for average turnover growth of at least 6.5% a year and annual average profit increase of at least 10.8% by 2020, and at least 7.7% and over 11%, respectively, during 2021-2025. The group will provide telecommunications and information technology products, media products, provide consultancy and maintenance for telecommunications, information technology and media buildings and manufacture, import and export telecommunications, IT and media products.Following the restructuring plan, VNPT will establish VNPT Information Technology Company, merge the VNPT Hospital of Nursing – Rehabilitation in Hai Phong city into the Hospital of Post and Telecommunications in Hanoi and maintain the Vietnam Telecom Services Corporation.

The Prime Minister has approved an agricultural restructuring plan from 2017 to 2020. Accordingly, the plan targets the sector’s GDP growth of three per cent per year by 2020. Average labour productivity is expected to expand by 3.5 per cent annually and the share of labour in agriculture will decrease below 40 per cent. The government is considering a draft decree on the casino business, the Prime Minister said at a meeting with Quang Ninh authorities on December 22. He also confirmed that the Politburo’s decision has already given permission for Vietnamese people to enter two casinos, one at Van Don and one on Phu Quoc Island.
