Another $6.6 US million will be poured into the construction of a large-scale powder coating factory in Vietnam, announced Akzo Nobel Coatings Vietnam yesterday. The facility is the company's 12th powder coatings site in the Asia Pacific region. The factory is being built in Amata Industrial Zone in the southern province of Dong Nai and will be operational in 2006. Dutch-Swedish chemical group Akzo Nobel said on Thursday its first-quarter profit soared 58 per cent, a result in keeping with its "medium-term strategic ambitions." The company said it posted a three months to March net profit of 128 million euros ($187 million) on sales of 3.76 billion euros, up 16 per cent as volumes increased 7.0 per cent. - On January 17, the State Bank of Vietnam and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed four loan agreements totalling 176 million USD to support four projects in Vietnam. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will cooperate with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to assist all phases of the infrastructure development projects in Southeast Asia, from planning to designing, purchasing, construction and management. JICA and USAID plan to carry out the first cooperative project in Vietnam and submit to the Vietnamese Government a plan to establish an investment fund in 2012. JICA will set up a fund worth US$400 - 500 million in March 2012 to support PPP projects. Danish aid supports art projects in VN Eight new contemporary art projects of national and foreign artists in Vietnam will get US$100,000 financial support from the Danish Vietnamese Cultural Development and Exchange Fund (CDEF) in late 2013. The information was released by Danish Ambassador to Vietnam John Nielsen at a press conference on November 27. Accordingly, the new projects are related to dance, visual art, music and multimedia.
