NDO/VNA – The annual book street festival opened in Ho Chi Minh City on February 13 in celebration of the upcoming traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) festival. The event, attracting 12 exhibitors with over 26,000 book titles, is taking place along Mac Thi Buoi, Nguyen Hue and Ngo Duc Ke streets in District 1 till February 19 (the fourth day of the Lunar New Year). The festival also displays books about President Ho Chi Minh, the General Offensive in Spring 1968 and the development of Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City. Speaking at the event, Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications Duong Anh Duc said the festival aims to bring meaningful reading experience to visitors and promote Ho Chi Minh City as an attractive destination.
Nhan Dan Online - A festival entitled 'Ho Chi Minh City - Our Common House' was held in Van Thanh tourist site, Binh Thanh district, HCMC on September 10. NDO – Low-cost airline Jetstar Pacific officially opened a new domestic route connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Hoi in Quang Binh province on February 1. The new route will operate three flights per week on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, using a 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. The first flight departed from Ho Chi Minh City at 1:30pm and landed at Dong Hoi at 2pm. The festival in Ho Chi Minh City would be part of the first India Festival in Vietnam to be held in three cities of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. A variety of events would take place in Ho Chi Minh City including a Buddhist exhibition, Yoga classes, folk and classical dances, a food festival and a Mehendi art show.
