President of the world football governing body FIFA Gianni Infantino has pledged to support Vietnam’s football development programmes in the coming time through the FIFA Goal Project. Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation, Le Hung Dung (right) welcomes FIFA Gianni Infantino in Hanoi on February 8 At a working session with representatives from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in Hanoi on February 8, the FIFA leader said that they would continue to support the project by providing financial resources, building of a laboratory and high-quality training room, and referee training, helping Vietnam complete young football training programmes in particular and promote its football development in general. “FIFA has also selected Vietnam as one of the participants in a pilot project to develop women’s football in 18 months,” Gianni Infantino said. “FIFA will send its experts to Vietnam to help the VFF build a long-term programme for the project.” FIFA president said he highly valued football achievements made by Vietnam in recent time, especially Vietnam’s U20 football team’s presence at the U20 World Cup 2017; Vietnam’s Futsal team playing in the semi-finals of the 2018 AFC Futsal Championship; and the U23 team’s success as the runner-up at the AFC U23 Championship 2018.
