Many of the pyrotechnic displays are locally funded by businesses and enterprises. These shows signal a major shift in governmental attitude toward firework displays on Lunar New Year’s Eve. Colorful fireworks are expected to light up the night sky of Vietnam, from the northernmost province of Ha Giang, to the southernmost province of Ca Mau, according to the Vietnam News Agency. The displays in Hanoi will last 15 minutes, from midnight until 00:15 am on February 16. There are 31 launching sites in 30 locations in the capital, the highest in the entire country. High-range fireworks are to be launched from Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Khanh Lake (Ba Dinh District), Hoang Cau Lake (Dong Da District), Thong Nhat Park (Hai Ba Trung District), Lac Long Quan Flower Garden (Tay Ho District), Van Quan Lake (Ha Dong District), Thanh Tich Park (in My Dinh National Sports Complex), Harmony Lake (Vinhomes Riverside in Long Bien District), and Son Tay Citadel (Son Tay District). The total budget for the displays amounts to VND10 billion (US$440,730) and was locally raised by the interested businesses and enterprises. People living in Ho Chi Minh City can enjoy 15-minute firework shows at seven different sites, one high-altitude in the city center, and six low-altitude in peripheral districts. Four provinces in Vietnam have reported six outbreaks of bird flu, according to the Department of Animal Health. The provinces affected are Vĩnh Long, Đăk Lắk, Quảng Ninh and Thừa Thiên-Huế. An outbreak was detected in the southern province of Vĩnh Long on Saturday at a household in Bình Tân District's Mỹ Thuận Commune which affected 300 chicken.
