Foreign visitors at the Hue imperial relic site (Photo VNA) Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre will offer free tickets for Vietnamesevisitors during the first three days of the 2018 Lunar New Year (February16-18).A number of royal activities under the Nguyendynasty (1802-1945) will be held such as ‘bai vu’ – a folk game often played onthe full moon night or in the first day of the year to find good luck, ‘xamhuong’ (players throw dices to take slabs carved with red Chinese characters incorresponding to degrees of a former examination system), poetry response, andcalligraphy.The illumination of ‘Ky dai Hue’ (Flag Tower)and the experience of paintball game, which were opened to visitors from February12 night, were definitely a highlight of the Tet celebration at the imperialrelic site.Earlier, the centre re-enacted a ceremony toplant a Neu pole at the citadel on February 8 and held various royal rituals inaddition to art and culture activities such as wrapping Chung cake (atraditional cake made from glutinous rice dedicated to Lunar New Year), musicperformances, calligraphy, and folk games.The ancient imperial city of Hue in the centralprovince of Thua Thien-Hue was recognised as an ASEAN Clean Tourist City at theASEAN Travel Forum and Travex International Tourism Trade Fair in Thailand atthe end of January.In 2018, Thua Thien-Hue strives to welcome about4-4.2 million tourists, a year-on-year rise of 10 percent, with 40-45 percentbeing international vacationers. Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – About 25,000 tourists visited the Hue
imperial relic site in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on National Day
(September 2), according to Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre
Phan Thanh Hai.
Free entrance tickets were offered to Vietnamese visitor at the imperial palace
and monuments on the day. Meanwhile, local residents received a discount of 50
percent from September 1.

The Prime Minister has approved a project to preserve, repair and promote the historic and tourism values of the ancient Hue imperial relic site in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue between now and 2024. The project includes 10 components using State budget from the National Target Program for Culture Development, and another 17 funded by local budget and other sources. Thua Thien – Hue (VNA) – Nearly 25,000 tourists, including 17,657 foreigners, visited the Hue imperial relic site in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue during the three-day national holiday from December 31 to January 2. Revenue from tickets sale and other services reached VND110 billion (over US$4.8 million), he added. On the occasion, the center will also organize various activities celebrating Tet (Lunar New Year) at the relic, including the guard changing ceremony, performances of lion dance, royal court music and royal games. The center will re-enact a ceremony to plant the Neu pole at the Imperial Citadel on February 8 (the 23rd day of the 12th lunar month).
